For Eagles fans, this off season’s mantra was: DO THE DEAL. Sal Pal, Mikey Miss, and the Philadelphia radio blowhards had everyone believing the guy Chip Kelly talks to every night before he goes to bed was coming to bring us to the promised land. At first I fought it, whole-heartedly believing the Eagles should never draft a Heisman-winning QB. Then my past life’s Lord and savior, Nick Foles, was traded for a guy I long considered a bust because he was dealt a bad hand. On my birthday, I sat there eating my Primo’s Hoagie, hoping to see Chip pull off the improbable; it didn’t happen. My birthday was soured, and we were all crushed. But maybe there is a silver lining to that heartbreak. Bradford looks like he could run this offense in the same fashion Michael Vick did in Chip’s debut against Washington. To boot, we still have the majority of our picks, and a growing stockpile of late-rounders. That’s why I now urge Chip to find a way to do the new deal: Pursue Kam Chancellor. Pulling it off would be the best new deal for Philadelphia since FDR. I’m sure his former defensive backfield mates, Byron Maxwell and Walter Thurmond, would love to be reunited with the best safety in football. Kick Thurmond back outside to corner, and those starting four are amongst the best in the league when healthy. Kam brings back the hard-hitting safety play that every Philadelphian has lusted after since Joe Banner let the franchise get on a plane to Denver. Chip, Philadelphia is ready to win now. Throw your chips in and go grab our missing piece.

PREACH! Hopefully the Seattle D kicks ass in week 1 and his price drops.
