According to many sources the Pennsylvania InterScholastic Athletic Association will soon announce that all sports will be cancelled until January 1, 2021 due to concerns of the Corona Virus.

What started off the day as a Facebook group rumor was confirmed with a source close to myself. I was told “We are governed by the PIAA and as of now we have been informed all of our facilities for athletics will remain closed until 2021. January 1st will be the soonest any sport revivals will be discussed.”

A PIAA Official has this to say:

Owen isnt wrong. Most sports already faced a shortage and many others have referees 65+ who will have to recuse themselves until a vaccine is found.

This is heartbreaking for the many children who love athletics across the state and devastating for all those who are chasing records and titles. Coaches and referees rely on these outlets for income and it will surely hurt their pockets as well. Let’s pray that my sources are somehow misinformed but I fear they are not.
