We have heard many narratives on Our head coach Charles ‘Chip’ Kelly. The beaten to death and horribly wrong ‘Chip is a racist’ narrative, the ‘Chip is a genius’ narrative and the ‘Chip doesn’t put up with malcontents’ narrative. Personally, I can give two shits about the human aspect of our coach. What I care about is his coaching style and his X’s and O’s. Recently the play calls seem to be very straight forward and overly simple. Reminds me of what an old Movie Football Coach said: “I run 6 plays, split veer, like Novocain. Just give it time, always works.” Coach Herman Boone. Play calling has seemingly become extremely predictable. Is it because he believes it will wear down other teams or did he not realize how easy to predict his offense has become? It is on Chip now to prove it works or suffer something he has never had to in his coaching career, a losing season. Everything is peachy and men follow you when you are winning but things become less tolerable when you are losing games. This city and our ball players rallied behind Chip like TC Williams rallied behind Coach Boone. Now let’s hope the guy whose offense averaged 30 points a game can get it together against a team allowing 8.5 points per game.
